![]() ![]() ![]() This game had varied specific martial arts styles as varied as Muay Thai, Savate, Preying Mantis Kung Fu, Hapkido, Ninjutsu, and many others. I guess it’s pretty damn old at this point (released in 1993) and kinda niche, but hands down the best answer for me is an old Sega Genesis/Sega CD game called Eternal Champions. The devs did this intentionally and I’ve never played a game like it, but it’s a very punishing game and it’s only fun if you enjoy that specific kind of experience. There’s no save option so you basically have to be perfect the entire game or have very few mistakes, ie you can’t die a bunch in the initial levels because you’ll age and be weaker when you get to the later stages.Īnyway, it’s very realistic to martial arts in that you’re basically doing drills and have to execute the attacks and defenses perfectly to win fights. You don’t keep any power ups or skills you learn if you die permanently. Eventually you get so old that you’ll die permanently and have to restart ALL of your progress. Been a while, but IIRC, as you get older you get stronger but have less life. It has a unique mechanic where you get older every time you revive. If you aren’t perfect in your gameplay you have to start all over from the beginning. You have to master combos and specific martial arts moves. I wouldn’t recommend the game to casual gamers though - honestly I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. ![]() Sifu is a really accurate translation of martial arts.
